Instead of assuming that information resides only within visible apps, you’ll see how operating systems redistribute data. You’ll also see how applications cache, sync, or store information in system-level directories, and how different layers of the device—from user-facing interfaces to background processes—hold potentially critical evidence.

Justin will also cover how to justify a warrant that authorizes a thorough, informed search of multiple storage locations, including app data, logs, databases, and system files. Plus, he’ll explain the critical distinction between extracting all data from a device and conducting lawful analysis of only the data authorized by a warrant.

Additionally, you’ll learn more about the importance of articulating how the sought data relates to the elements of the offense and the operating environment of the device—helping to ensure investigative completeness and withstanding legal scrutiny.
